The global spread of COVID-19 has prompted a rapid shift in the way we live our lives and has impacted employees, who may be experiencing heighted anxiety during these uncertain times.

The pandemic has brought into sharper focus the need for State Authorities to have appropriate workplace stress and critical incident stress supports in place for their employees.

It is likely that COVID-19 will be part of our daily working life for some time and State Authorities should incorporate control measures to limit employees’ exposure to workplace stressors as far as is reasonably practicable.

New Risk Advisory Notice

The State Claims Agency has developed a Risk Advisory Notice to assist State Authorities with the implementation of appropriate risk management controls to help manage stress and critical incident stress in the workplace.

It also contains sample control measures that State Authorities should consider during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Proper management of these risks can help reduce the incidence and cost of claims.
