As part of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) implementation project to deliver system enhancements, work has been completed on the recategorisation of Clinical Care Incidents.

After a process of consultation with users across the HSE in both the acute and community services, the categorisation of Clinical Care Incidents has been redesigned.

What has changed?

1. The incident classification Birth Specific Procedures has changed to Labour / Delivery
2. The incident classification Clinical Procedures has been replaced with three new categories:
   1. Diagnosis
   2. Care Management
   3. Surgical/Medical Procedures

Healthcare NIRF-01 Person and NIRF-01 Person Interactive have been updated with the new Clinical Care Incident/Hazard categories and are available to download on the HSE website.
