Clinical Seminar: Fetal Monitoring in Practice - October 2014

Fetal Monitoring in Practice is a practical education programme provided for clinical staff with responsibility for cardiotocographic (CTG) monitoring and interpretation within the Irish maternity services.

Event overview

This programme is primarily for staff midwives, clinical midwife managers (1 and 2), and non consultant hospital doctors. Consideration will be given to any other clinical staff member who wishes to attend, depending on availability.

The facilitator will be Professor Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St George’s University of London.

Professor Arulkumaran is a past president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and currently president-elect of the International Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology – the global body dedicated to improving the quality of life of women and newborns. He has published 24 books as author or editor, 240 indexed articles and more than 150 book chapters. He is also editor in chief of Best Practice and Research Clinical Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 1998.

Another key achievement is the development of a “clinical dashboard” to provide clinicians with the relevant and timely information required to inform decision-making to improve the quality of patient care.
